The Master of Music Education degree provides teachers the opportunity to develop advanced skills in musicianship, pedagogical techniques, curriculum design, assessment, and research. Graduates return to the classroom prepared for the next level of leadership for their students, programs, and the profession. All coursework is offered in a distance learning format only.

Admission

In addition to the general requirements of the School of Graduate Studies, applicants must provide one official transcript from each institution attended documenting a baccalaureate degree in music from an accredited institution. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA to remain in good standing. A grade of B or better is required for course credit. Students have 7 years to complete the MME from the first semester of enrollment. Students must complete at least the last 15 hours of their degree at Southeastern.

Graduation Requirements

  1. Complete the approved program of courses in the Master of Music Education.
  2. Possess a grade point average of at least 3.0 in all graduate work on the plan of study. All grades must be B or better.
  3. Request a degree check prior to the semester of graduation.
  4. Apply for graduation at the beginning of the semester of expected graduation.
  5. Successfully complete and pass the final project.
