The Master of Science in Native American Leadership (MSNAL) program was developed in partnership with tribal leaders in 2014 and explores Indigenous and western concepts of leadership, tribal sovereignty, nation-building, survivance, and Indigenous resilience as they apply to historical and present-day opportunities and challenges facing Native American tribal nations, organizations, and individuals. Today, there are nearly 200 MSNAL alumni from over 50 tribal nations and 27 states.

Mission Statement

The mission of the MSNAL program is to graduate students who are rooted, resilient, and ready — prepared with the cultural acumen, historical knowledge, and leadership skills to be exceptional leaders throughout Indian Country and beyond.

Program Admission Requirements

All applicants must be admitted to the School of Graduate Studies. Students must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with an overall 2.75 GPA or 3.0 GPA in the last 60 hours. No GRE is required and there are no prerequisite courses. Applicants who do not meet the GPA requirements and hold a baccalaureate degree may submit a resume for consideration if they have a 2.00 undergraduate retention GPA or 2.00 GPA in the last 60 hours.
